T.R.A.P. Learning Workshop

This educational program is the perfect mix of educational objectives and artistic experiences. It is designed to be fun and engaging but also helps develop an increased mastery of coordination, concentration, and educational accomplishment.

WHO WE SERVE

Our Members represent diverse ethnic backgrounds and range in age from 1 to more than 85 years old.

Individuals with Disabilities: Diagnoses range from mild to profound cognitive disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Alzheimer’s, Autism, mobility/hearing/vision impairments and traumatic brain injury.

Young Children: We have developed an age-appropriate curriculum for typical children as well as differently abled children ages 18 months to 5 years old. This program has also been successful in the lower grades.

THE RHYTHMIC ARTS PROJECT (T.R.A.P.)

T.R.A.P. empowers people with various disabilities to succeed in the world. We integrate drums and percussion instruments as creative learning tools that address life skills and enhance the mind, body, and spirit.

By listening to the individual as part of our approach, we practice person-centered principles in everything we do. We develop lesson plans to address the individual needs of each student in every class. We base our methods on evidence and teamwork by meeting often and effectively. We ask our students what they would like to accomplish and then guide them in an Appropriate Path to Success. We rely on relationships rather than strict rules. This educational program is the perfect mix of educational objectives and artistic experiences. The T.R.A.P. program has been successful in addressing cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities. Through customized exercises, the program teaches and enhances skills such as: Focus, Memory, Socialization, Sequencing, Sign Language, Laterality, Motor Control, Spatial Awareness, and Communication.
